About Me

Back in 2005, I was involved in a car accident which would change my life forever. Ever since that day in early May I have been a quadriplegic, paralysed from the chest down, I have also been through depression because of the reality of my injury. However, one day I was sat in my room at university and I stumbled across guided meditations on YouTube. I gave the meditations a try and never looked back. I came off of my anti-depressants and realised that it was up to me to live a wonderful life. Yes, as a quadriplegic life may be more difficult, a struggle beyond belief at times, but I owe it to myself to live the best life I can live. It was like I did a complete 360 and became this uber positive person with so much love for life. Therefore, in 2010, I decided to create my own YouTube videos all about positivity and motivation to hopefully inspire at least one person. Back then I filmed my videos on my webcam and didn’t even edit them, YouTube is a completely different world these days! Once I started my YouTube channel I met lots of inspiring young people who all wanted to make the world a better place. Modern hippies in a way. I started to feel unmotivated by my university course, Fashion Journalism, so decided to follow my heart and leave the UCA in Epsom after a year. I’ve never looked back.

I have since raised money for Spinal Research, spoken at schools and colleges, alongside TV and radio campaigns raising awareness for road safety and spinal injuries.

One day my webcam wouldn’t work and I needed some kind of creative outlet. I always enjoyed writing so, on 23rd August 2013, JordansBeautifulLife.com was born.

I eventually got myself a professional camera and my love for my YouTube channel grew. I stepped away from my seemingly airy fairy videos and started to learn who I was. I think due to my depression I became dramaticallyย the opposite of that but it was like I wasn’t being myself. So, I decided to combine motivational videos with makeup tutorials. I have loved makeup ever since I was young so it felt so natural to create these videos. However, I would often get questioned as to why I wouldn’t open my hands in my makeup tutorials. With comments such as ‘What is wrong with her hands’ etc I decided to create a video called My Beautiful Struggle, in which I explain my injury and a bit of my story. This video went viral and currently has 17 million views on Facebook and 5 million on YouTube.

These days YouTube/Instagram is my full time job. I have worked with L’Oreal, Urban Decay, Liz Earle, Mark Hill and Illamasqua to name a few.

In May 2017 my debut book My Beautiful Struggle was published which you can purchase HERE

I hope you enjoy my blog all about life, beauty and everything in between.

    Hi there Jordan,

I happened to randomly come across your blog and I’m very glad I did. Admittedly, beauty products are not my forte, but I found your blog to be very well done, and your attitude, spirit and story to be very inspirational. I couldn’t hit the follow button quick enough!

Please keep up the great work, my best wishes from the States!

Hi Jordan, I found your blog through the Look magazine article and I am so glad I did. Your positive attitude is something I could learn from and I hope to learn more about make up from you. I was always an outdoorsy type of person who never bothered with makeup before but now I am mostly housebound I am trying to find ways if improving myself. I have developed an addiction to MAC makeup but hope to discover new ones from you. No pressure lol

Thanks for the lovely message! Nope that’s no pressure at all it just means I have an excuse to purchase more MAC products haha! x

    Hi Jordan,
Maybe you have some suggestions for me. I am an occupational therapy assistant student at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, Pa, USA. I have a presentation to make on electronic/ manual grooming equipment. I am wondering if you have found any equipment that might be useful for someone who has lost function whether it be a spinal cord injury or something else like rheumatory arthritis, a stroke, etc. I think the best adaptations are the one one would actually use cause if they don’t work why bother.

      Hi Paula,
Unfortunately, I don’t really have an answer for you ๐Ÿ™ although at physio and when I work out I sometimes use Active Hands which help you hold onto things which is helpful. Sorry I can’t be of more help x

(((*.*))) You’re Amazing! Going through a tough time.. Nothing I could ever compare to your story.. But enough to say I struggle more than the norm. And you inspire me to pull it together yet again. I always say there is nothing like Rainy Day Red when you feel lousy, lol. I have been the unpopular squeaky wheel as passenger in several cars where the driver is drinking or doing drugs while driving.. And let me tell you the peer pressure is Intense! I have stuck to my guns.. But it gives you a label and it sucks.. It’s nice to see a supporter for the other side because I am usually standing alone. God bless you! Thank you for inspiring me today ๐Ÿ™‚

I randomly came across your Youtube videos which lead me to your blog. I fell in love with your personality(not that I’d know you so well but just the way you speak and smile, both with your eyes and teeth, really got to me). And the way you look, giiiirl. I think you look absolutely stunning. Kind of like a doll. Only more beautiful with a spoonful of coolness. I’ve never been in to the make up tutorials but something about you just made me watch them one after another.
I actually wanted to ask if you know anything about hair dyes. I saw your profile picture on Instagram and that kind made me want to steal the look.. I’m guessing it still is you in there. So what kind of pink did you use? I’m after some pastel pink. I’ve used Bleach London rosรฉ but that didn’t last for very long. I’m hoping you’ve got something great to suggest :)!
Anyways, I wish you the best of luck and keep up the excellent work. You really are an inspiration to me.
    Greetings from Estonia!!

Jordan i lost my wife of twelve years to a car accident last year so your story touched my heart. I happened upon your story because of your tenacity to do your make up. As im sure Micheal has told you its not necessary at all but after being married to a beautiful woman so long i understand your desire and need to have the option. My wife didnt need it either but loved to use it when SHE wanted to. I applaud your decision to share your struggle. Many people give up. Stories like yours give me the strength to get up and face the day now that Melanie is gone. Thanks for showing me and others on the edge that happiness and a beautiful life can be had after we face heartache and catastropic life events.

Jordan, your truly inspirational, you’ve open my eyes in so many different ways. I definitely enjoy seeing your videos and reading your blogs. You’ve showed me that no matter what a person is going through nothing is impossible as long as you set your mind to it. Thank you for the motivation. May god keep blessing you.

Hi Jordan, ๐Ÿ™‚ My name is Dorothy. You are an inspiration & a smashing beauty as my Australian friend would say. She referred you to me earlier this week when I was down a bit. My story goes something like this. I’m 26 years old. I live in Thousand Islands, Ontario Canada which is about a 3 hour drive east of Toronto. On March 4th I gave berth to my 4th daughter Rosalee. On the 3rd morning afterwards I awoke still in the hospital & I was numb all down my body from my shoulders to my toes. I couldn’t move anything. It still remains a mystery as to why, my doctors are still trying to figure it out. Almost every morning from that day on I wake up this way. As the day progresses, I gradually regain feeling first in my arms & eventually down to my legs & feet. I experience a lot of tingling, twitching of my muscles, & pain as the feeling & ability to move returns. Not every day has been the same but that’s pretty much the pattern of my slow day long recovery. Some days are better then others. I am now home with my healthy baby Ro who makes every day worth it. My husband & a group of good friends help me up out of bed, into my wheelchair & into my day each morning. I have to depend on others now when before I did everything to keep my home running smoothly. These last 2 weeks have been a mixture of delight about my new baby & the pain & worry about my ability to be a good healthy mother for her & my other 3 daughters. Your story is truly an inspiration for me to work hard for my eventually recovery. I can sense that I’m slowly getting better with each day & so I’m positive that I will get back to the old me. I have a lot of responsibilities keeping every thing going around here. I have no time to be sick. Please keep your incredible positive juices flowing, I need all the help I can get these days. My oldest daughter who is 11 typed this comment for me because I can’t move my hands & fingers today. God Bless You! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Jordan I’m Shiela from Philippines. I’m so blessed to run into your video on Face Book. I’ve been doing makeup for 3yrs but not taking it seriously until this year. Since I’m earning from it why not make a career out of it. But the thing is I’m a single parent i have a son he’s 12yo, if i have money i can’t go buying makeup because there are things to prioritize. I complain because i have veeery few make up and old brushes to use. I even thought of not pursuing my passion in doing makeup (to think I’m just starting and already thought about quitting ๐Ÿ™ ) When i saw your video i was inspired… The things i complain about is nothing compared to what u have gone through. Thank you / Salamat! I will not quit and i know it might take a bit long but gradually i will have the things that i need. God bless! โค

Hi Jordan, your tale is one that should give fresh hope to many others. It’s a great story.
My own story is slightly different. I had a stroke in 2013, spent 9 months at Leamington hospital. I’ve been in an electric wheelchair since having the stroke. I can’t walk, can barely talk
and live at a care home in Leicestershire. There’s nothing wrong with my mind, but that’s about all that works.

    Hi Jordan,

You truly are an inspiration and I might need your advice in the near future. My younger brother was in a terrible car accident about 2 months ago we still do not know the final outcome of his injury but he does have severed spine from T-10. My question is how ling were you hospitalized and how or what made you feel better at the hospital?

Thank you for your message. I am so sorry to hear your brother was in a car accident. I was in hospital from May – Oct 2005…I couldn’t do much whilst on bedrest so would just watch TV. Once I was in my chair I couldn’t wait to get home so having some home comforts…my own duvet/pillow etc was nice and so was wearing my own pjs and not just a hospital gown…if I was older I would’ve enjoyed going to physio etc but I just wanted to get home. I’ve written a lot about this in my book ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Jordan,

I watched your video last night about feeling uninspired and not being where you want to be. I just wanted to say girl you are fantastic look at all the amazing things you have done and all the people you inspire daily. I love your YouTube channel and was wonderful if you could do a clothing haul (your style is insane) or a designer bag collection video? I have been feeling like you described for a few weeks and last night I watched your video and got my ass back to the gym and I feel way better this morning so thatโ€™s at least one persons outlook you have changed yet again. Your a true inspiration!
