Whats Wrong With Your Hands?!

IMG_4305 IMG_4009

Is a question I see on my YouTube channel so often these days, mainly from random viewers who have just stumbled across my channel. Therefore, I thought I’d clear a few things up. Although, I know all of you who read my blog understand, I feel I could put this on my channel just to get rid of ignorant comments.

The thing I don’t understand when I see comments like, ‘Why are you holding a brush like that?’, ‘I couldn’t finish the video because of her attempt to grab her hair’ & ‘Whats wrong with her hands!?’, is why that person doesn’t just do some research first because it wouldn’t be hard to find out. If they simply watch my my main channel video it explains all about my accident.

So to those who do not know what is wrong with my hands, the answer is:

Nothing is wrong with them, they’re paralysed. The problem doesn’t lie within my hands or legs but my spinal cord which was damaged in a car accident 10 years ago when I was just 15 years old. I am paralysed from my chest down which makes me a quadriplegic so I have to use a wheelchair. I cannot open or close my hands so to be able to do my makeup, for me, is a miracle. I would practise and practise until every lash was covered in mascara, even if half of it was down my face, but I got there. There are so many things I cannot do for myself so being able to do my makeup and even teach others through my channel is such an achievement for me.

I hope that has answered your question and actually inspires you to try to do something you think is unachievable.

Too bad you even have to explain this, but good that you do it anyway of course! If i would see someone doing something different than other people do it, I asssume theres a reason for it, like you being quadriplegic. Whyyy on earth would people say things like that…. And Jordan, you totally rock! Your makeup looks ten time better than mine!

    Ignorant people are the worst.

I think it’s unbelievably rude that people make such comments on YOUR channel yet address them to some other audience! The least they could do, if they really want to understand more about you, is ask you politely, privately. But people will be ignorant no matter what I guess. You don’t need us to tell you this because you KNOW how amazing you are, but you’re such an inspiration Jordan; you are so talented. The flower that blooms in adversity is the brightest of all, don’t forget that.

Thank you so much for sharing, sadly enough too many people are ignorant enough to just assume ‘something is wrong’, even if you can’t do a thing about it or a terrible event happened that made it that way. You’re truly an inspiration!

It’s bizarre that in this day and age – with endless amounts of information at our fingertips, people still feel the need to ask the most ignorant and stupid of questions, that can a lot of the time, be very hurtful. I guess we all need to remember to take what these people say with a pinch of salt, their opinions – strangers online with spiteful words, mean nothing to us! Simply because they don’t know us personally, know what we’ve been or are currently dealing/struggling with. Keep your head up Jordan – you’re beautiful inside and out. You’ve proven that you can do anything and you’ve made everything you do look glam 🙂 you are an inspiration so just remember to brush those haters off! xox

Thank you for sharing, Jordan! I am new to your channel (I am 40, love makeup, living in the US!) and I really enjoy your videos. I think sometimes people online say & post things they would *never* say in person, because they are hiding behind a computer and feel brave. Maybe it isn’t even intentional or they do not realize how it sounds. Personally, I think you are lovely and I sincerely enjoy your videos & reviews of products. Please keep it up!

Dear Jordan, I think what you are doing is marvellous. I love the way you play with colour and light and shade. I must ask have you done any fine art or painting because you achieve such beautiful results. I’m sure you could create amazing fine art as well.
When I watch your videos here is what I see:
Firstly I see an accomplished artist
And I see a very beautiful person: in character, as well as in appearance.
Your hands are your hands: it’s what you do with them that counts. And what you do with them is wonderful. X

The title of your blog caught my attention as I am someone with disabled hands from birth. Networking with other people who understand the experience of disability is a challenge. We naturally develop a coping mechanism but by far the hardest challenge is people who just stare like you are from a different planet. Keep fighting.
