A matte palette is a must in any makeup collection so when The Balm sent me their Meet Matt(e) Nude palette* I couldn’t wait to put it to the test. The Balm undoubtedly always have cute, fun and comical packaging with their retro vibe and witty slogans which is appealing to the eye whilst they sit pretty on your dressing table. The Meet Matt(e) Nude palette carries on the fun themed packaging, on the front of the palette is an image of a terracotta tanned cheesy looking guy with the words ‘Size Matt(e)rs’ beside him – cheeky! When you open the palette you will find nine large neutral matte eyeshadows, hence the size matters pun, which are all named after a variety of Matts e.g. Matt Johnson & Matt Hung. Inside the palette is also a large mirror which always a brilliant feature. The eyeshadows themselves are good and blend well but aren’t quite as amazing as I had expected although I am still fairly happy with the palette. The white in the palette is a tad chalky but once applied looks vibrant as you can see from my brow bone and inner corner highlight. The shadows need a little bit of building up but once you have taken the time to intensify the pigmentation they create beautiful matte looks and we all know matte is very in right now with everyone obsessing over the 90s. The one thing missing from this palette is a matte black eyeshadow because with this it would feel more complete – we all love to use a bit of black when creating a smouldering smokey eye don’t we?! All in all I’ll be reaching for the palette for future matte looks or even just for my crease and transition shade.

Find the palette here for £34.

It’s a shame that the shadows aren’t more pigmented because the colours are lovely! The eye look you’ve created is great! x
