Another day, another eyeshadow post but this time this beautiful palette is more than just an eyeshadow palette. Tarte have created a limited edition palette called Rainforest After Dark* which includes six eyeshadows consisting of neutral browns with a gold and muted purples with a shimmery plum (which look quite brown in the swatches above), a bronzer, blush and highlight all inside a round wooden effect compact with a stunning snake design. This palette will look so beautiful placed on my dressing table! Along with the makeup the palette includes a reasonably large mirror (for a palette anyway) which is always handy, hey dolls?! Each product is infused with coloured clay which helps to control oils in the skin which then makes the makeup last longer which means that it is ideal for a night out when we want our makeup to be able to stay intact even after a bit of crazy dancing. I am yet to put this makeup to the test in that respect, I haven’t been on a night out in what seems like forever! What I love most about this palette is that it is perfect for times when you’re travelling because it is so compact and has a lot of what you need inside it. The eyeshadows themselves are reasonably pigmented but the lighter shades do need a little bit of building up and I’ve found that the darkest brown shade needs a lot of blending but I think it is the perfect alternative to a black shade. When I first applied the bronzer I found it to be a little light but after a bit of building up I created my perfect shade. To me, the nude pink blush in the palette looks rather cool toned but when applied it seemed to turn warmer – this may come off differently on each person! The highlight is so stunning, it adds a gorgeous glow to the cheekbones as well as a tiny bit of shimmer. My overall favourite eyeshadow has to be the gold shade (duh, its always my first choice!) although it applied much more beautifully and intense when I applied it with a damp eyeshadow brush.
Overall, if you love neutral shades which you can use day or night then I would get this palette. Not only will it look pretty on your dressing table but it will look pretty on your face. I know what you’re thinking my fellow Brits, Tarte is an American brand so where can we get it!? Well, I recently discovered Rose’s Beauty Store which stocks all American products for the UK…eek! They may be a little bit more pricey than they would be in America – this palette is $38 in the US (from Sephora) but on Rose’s Beauty store it is £38.99 which is definitely worth it as you’ll avoid tax fees when it arrives at your door! Find it here !
