A Beyonce Weekend!

A few months ago I set my alarm for 9am on the dot to make sure I called the O2 as soon as it opened in the hopes of getting tickets for Beyonce’s Mrs Carter Tour. I was sat on the phone only to be greeted by an engaged tone time and time again, until finally someone on the other end picked up. Hallelujah, I got three tickets for Saturday 1st March 2014 for Mike, myself, and my friend, Katie. All the way back in 2007 was the first time I saw Beyonce and wow what a show. Her voice was hypnotic so I knew that I would love to see her perform again. The tickets came through the post a couple of weeks ago and I had them sat in my notice board knowing that they’d be safe there. On Monday, Mike and I went out for dinner when I received a text message from Katie saying that she couldn’t wait for Saturday. I looked at Mike confused wondering what was happening Saturday. Let’s just say it was a good job Katie was on the ball as I had it in my head we were going to see Beyonce on the 30th March not the 1st. Jeez Louise, I would’ve been so sad if we missed it because of my silly mistake. Anyway, on Saturday we arrived at the O2 around 5pm. We were hoping to go to Gaucho for dinner as I thought it was bound to have some delicious food and scrummy cocktails. However, when we got there they were fully booked so we settled with a Santa-Fe inspired restaurant called Armadillo. We then snuck into the VIP bar (how rebellious of us) and I had French Martini (one of my favourites!).

When we went to our seats we were so excited for Beyonce to come on. There was a DJ supporting, which was pretty good, then once he had finished we had around a 30mins wait until Bey came on stage. I’m not going to spoil it too much for those who are going to see the show but I have to say it was incredible. Beyonce’s vocals are insane, it sounded as if we were listening to her CD. The show was definitely showing off Beyonce’s real sexy side with provocative choreography and skimpy outfits. A highlight of the night was when Jay-Z came out on stage to sing Drunk In Love with her. The crowd literally went wild when Jay walked on stage and the atmosphere definitely went up a notch. Near the end Beyonce sang a verse of I Will Always Love You which sent a shiver down my spine. Amazing. There was no interval which I thought was weird but also great as it kept the crowd hyped up.

We all had a fantastic evening but the drive home from London was such a drag and we got in around 2am. This morning I woke up at 11am and I still felt knackered so I had a shower to wake me up and decided to get in fresh pyjamas and I chilled all day. What a fab weekend I’ve had with great people!
