My Top 5 Highlighters

Highlighting adds a glow to our face and accentuates areas that we want to stand out by catching the light. It is the opposite of contouring but they compliment one another. You use highlighters on the tops of the cheek bones, the brow bone, centre of the forehead, bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow & chin. I love highlighting so thought I’d let you know my top 5!

1) NARS ~ Albatross ~ £21.50

Nars Albatross claims to give you a luminous glow and it does just that. It is a yellow toned powder with small golden specs of glitter. It adds a glisteny sheen and catches the light just perfectly. It is suitable for women of all ages and although it is shimmery it isn’t in your face.

2) The Balm ~ Mary-Lou Manizer ~ £15.00*

This has to be the most pigmented highlighter I’ve ever used. It is very similar to Stila’s ‘Kitten’ eyeshadow so I loved it straight away. It is a powder with a creamy texture and the colour is described as a honey hue. As this is so pigmented there’s no need to build it up, one swipe for each area is all you need. You may need to tap some off of the brush before using if you don’t want to be too glowy. You can also use this as an eyeshadow. This is my favourite highlighter of the moment and it is the cheapest out of all 5. The packaging is pretty cool too.

3) Charlotte Tilbury ~ Bar Of Gold ~ £30

I love how this highlighter literally looks like a bar of gold. It has a luxury price tag but is a good highlighter to have in your collection if you like to have a golden goddess glow.

4) MAC ~ Mineralize Skin Finish ~ Soft & Gentle ~ £22

This highlighter has a rose gold tone to it. This works nicely with a pink blush as the two tie together well. It is a powder but like Mary-Lou Manizer it seems to have a bit of a creamy texture to it. This is highly pigmented and has lots of glitter particles in it so don’t be too heavy handed with it!

5) Bobbi Brown ~ Shimmer Brick Compact ~ Bronze ~ £32

I’ve used this product for years so had to include it in my top 5! This product is so versatile which makes it fab! Because this shimmer brick includes a variety of shades inside the compact you can use it as an eyeshadow palette as well as a highlighter as it gives you so many shades to add depth to your eye swell as highlighting the brow. It is great for times when you want to look sun kissed.

Mary-Lou Manizer is the perrrrrrfect highlighter – I love it so much and all I do is sing its praises… I can’t finish my makeup without dusting it over my face. Would love to get my hands on the CT Bar of Gold though x x

Which do you prefer; bar of gold or nars albatross? I have mac mineralise at the moment but looking for one that’s more everyday and more suitable for Cupid’s bow! Thanks a lot 🙂

I love them both but i’ve used NARS more, it was one of my first highlighters and definitely works well on the Cupid’s bow! 🙂 x
