‘Man Trap’ Fabulipstick ~ RRP £9 ~ 3.5g *
Still in it’s box this lipstick was intriguing me. I’m not a girl who wears red too often but this shade, ‘Man Trap’, from Soap & Glory just reminded me of 1950’s pin up girls! Today, I’ve been lazy with the rest of my makeup so thought I’d give this lipstick a try as a bold lip makes up for a simple eye. As I ran it onto my lips the first thing I noticed was how buttery it was unlike many highly pigmented lipsticks. It doesn’t dry your lips or emphasise your lines at all *yay*! It has a lovely satin finish. Also, I don’t know about you but when I put a red or dark lipstick shade on I have to really focus to get it on perfectly but this seemed to just glide on so easily. It smells nice too.
So with all these positives I was shocked to find a negative. On the box it says WARNING: CONTAINS CARMINE AS A COLOUR ADDITIVE. Is it weird I didn’t know what carmine was? Anyway, after ‘googling’ it I was a bit disappointed. This shade of red is perfection but it’s because carmine is used. I’m a vegetarian and I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with crushed insects being a part of my lipstick. It’s good that they make it clear on the box though. This is such a shame because I actually love the texture of the lipstick. Hopefully their other shades don’t include it.
What it says on the box:
Featuring Ultimelt Shine & Shaping Technology, 3D Plump Peptide Complex, Shea Butter, Monoi Butter & Vitamin E.
Dermatologically tested. SUPER COLOUR FABULIPSTICK was safety and efficacy tested in Italy.
Wow I love this shade and you are so pretty! That’s a shame about the carmine thing, not sure I would want insects on my lips either haha! x
Yeah, the Carmine thing is a bummer and this is a lovely shade. Is it a bit more pink in RL?
No, the photo is pretty true to the real life colour so pretty red 🙂
