My Latest MAC Lipstick Purchases – Mini Review

Hey guys,

I hope you’re all having a good week. Today I thought I’d show you 3 new MAC lipsticks I recently purchased along with a mini review for each. They are ‘Angel’, ‘Pure Zen’ & ‘Candy Yum Yum’. Don’t you think MAC’s lipsticks always smell so good?!

As you can tell from this photo I’ve used Angel most since I got these three!

I heard about this lipstick from the YouTube community & had heard that Kim Kardashian uses it. KK’s makeup is always flawless so I thought the lipstick would be great too. In the photo of the swatch above you can see it is a reasonably sheer nude pink. I was a bit wary when I read it was a ‘Frost’ finish as I’m not keen on the frosty look as it can look a bit dated and cheap (in my opinion) but I was pleasantly surprised! I love this lipstick it makes your lips look plumper – I’m not sure why! This is a very natural look and is a great for people who love a naturally glam lip (‘my lips but better’ appearance). So if you’re at school & you read my blog you could probably get a way with wearing this subtle lipstick. However, remember lipsticks look slightly different on different people as we all have different skin tones so the undertones of the lipstick may show up more on one of us than another. For example, one of my favourite MAC lipsticks, ‘Snob’, is a pink lipstick with cool undertones and the coolness of it shows up quite a bit on me which makes it have a slight purple colour to it but on someone else the cool tones might not come through so strong. With that said however, I think this is a universal shade that will suit anyone.

‘Pure Zen’:

ZEN

This is another lipstick I heard about via YouTube! As it seems a lot of gurus mentioned the lipstick I thought surely I need it in my collection too. My collection grows virtually everyday so having the basic lippys is a must for me. As I really love MAC’s ‘Myth’ lipstick which is a nude I thought I would love this too. ‘Pure Zen’ is a creme sheen finish. If you look at the swatch you can see it is slightly sheer. I’m not a massive fan of this lipstick as I prefer the opaqueness of ‘Myth’ and I feel ‘Pure Zen’ looks a little bit wishy washy. I may change my mind as I’ve only used it once as I feel I’ve got other colours that suit me more. I feel I need to give it more of a chance.

‘Candy Yum Yum’:

YUMYUM

I was going to buy this lipstick back in July when I was on a shopping trip to Westfields but the sales assistant put me off when I asked her to show it to me as she kind of pulled a face as if to say ‘not for you honey!’. I’m so glad I got it in the end as its so vibrant & fun. This is a bright, extremely pigmented hot/ almost neon pink with a matte finish. This is great for when you want to make a statement ย and look bold. I literally only applied this once and it lasted me virtually all day, which is always a bonus. The only down side to this lippy is that it dries your lips out quite a bit & I also I think I’d wear it more often when I’ve got fake tan on as I feel it would suit darker skin tones a bit more.
